You got the dog and if you are willing to put down a 500+ deposit to keep him there (and yes you should try that) you should be willing to move to a place that does accept dogs. By all means do everything you can to get the head office to let you keep the dog there, but if doesn't work, consider moving. Move. You need to either be prepared to move or get rid of the dog. They likely won't care about how good he is or any of the other reasons you listed. But like if you had a very large dog that barked up a storm and pooped in the hallways well yes they can say something they can also say something if a small animal does the same.
