While I have not read this book cover to cover, I can say that it gives an interesting perspective on dogs of Australia, including history and personal opinions of the author. That was not, however, what I was looking for in this book. I was looking for breed characteristics, behavior issues, and generalities of the breed. The title is also deceiving. I was looking for a book on the Australian Cattle Dog, and only one chapter is devoted to this dog. In that one chapter, most of the commentary is on herding and training the dog to herd. Overall I would say that it is a nice novelty book, but it doesn’t give any really important or current information that a cattle dog owner would enjoy.
