Border collie question?

Posted by: | Comments (3)

Im looking to get a blue merle border collie.I have wanted one for abot a year now. And my parents said we could get one in maybe about six months. I was wondering if they are good with dogs, because i have a three other dogs ( a papillion chihuahua and dappled daschund) And i was also wondering how much excercise it needs, and activities you do with your border collie to make sure it gets enough excercise.
Thank you!
There is a park about 20 steps away from my house and i’ll be willing to take him or her to the park for about two hours a day after school.
And my mom goes on mile long walks in the morning so she would take it then too.
Yes, i plan on having it play frisbee right away, will that be enough? Going to the park and throwing it for a hour or two, and about two mile walks in the morning?

Posted by: | Comments (11)

i have had my papillion lilly since about july and when my family got her she loved me like crazy she would never leave my side… but now she doesnt love me as much she loves my mom and dad. i play with her all the time and pet her but she never seems to love me back! how do i make her love me again??? also is it true that if you take responsibilty for your dog (like feeding and cleaning their sh*t) do they love YOU more than the other person doing it?

Will it be hard to find a job?
What kind of visas do i need?
Health insurance?
What kind of jobs are there for an 18/19 year old?

What about my dogs?
I at least have to take Emma(dachshund ive had her for like ever shes my bby CAN NOT LEAVE HER!!!)lol. I can leave the other one since my older sister LOVES him. ha.

Does my dog need a passport too?

Whats that?
Should I wait for another year after i graduate and save money?
My parents said they will send me some mula as long as i go to school.
What colleges can i go to?
How much money do you think i will need to move over there?
And where are some good places to get an apartment?
Furnished or unfurnished?
Anything helps? Thnks :D

I have been around a lot of small dogs and Papillions seem to be the a perfect 10 on a 1-10 scale of useless dogs. The Chinese Crested could make a good argument for being the most useless- along with the Min Pin….. all very useless-but the Papillion is the clear winner.

Should the AKC encourage the reclassification of the Papillion from “companion dog” to “useless dog”?

Thoughts?
For what? Asking a question on prefernece with no swearing or profanity?

Are you tryuing to harass me? because I certainly belive you are. I am afraid I will have to report you as well for trying to intimidate me.
again- reported for what? Asking opinions? Again- are you trying to intimidate me? I belive so- I have no choice but to report you. Sorry.
Mutt- that was FUNNY! ha! Touche.

Ah my husband feels I should let him pick the next dog we get. We currently own a small yorkie papillion mix. Great little dog. I don’t know if its because of her size and the fact that she is out all day running, but once in the house is sooo calm and relax. Now my fear, is having a wild crazy large puppy running everywhere in the house not getting tired out. I know labradors/goldens (retrievers) are all high energy. But if given a full day out side, running would they tire off nicely? I did grow up with labs, sweet dogs and very hyper. We have a 2yr old, who loves dogs and loves his little dog. The little dog, runs around in the horse patics playing (doesnt have a dog buddy). We live on a horse farm ,lots of space o run and have an invisable fence, not to mention my husband works right out side our house. Advice? Iprefer the hybred, because I don’t like the hair all over the house and that dog smell. The dog we have doesnt shed, which I do like.
If you can not help with the advice, dont respond! I stated pet owners only meaning-Those who own these mixes. I know they are a mix, hybred or not. And people like myself, prefer buying a dog, knowing what the mix is and personality, also meeting with the people wo bred them. You go an adopt an animal from the shelter, you dont know the background. I want a dog who is none/ semi shed, so money is not an issue. and Money should not matter when owning an animal, because you are stuck with it for its life time.

just bought a papillon??!?

Posted by: | Comments (3)

So I went to a dog adoption center today looking to buy my new best friend! Right when I walked in I saw THE CUTEST dog ever, a papillion! It was love at first sight. Apparently it was born on the streets, and was found a few days after it was born without a mom or any brothers or sisters. It’s 13 weeks now, and i haven’t detected any problems concerning it’s knees or anything but it has a tendency to knaw/chew/nibble anything in sight! Is this the norm for dogs their age or is it a problem that I’ll need to address in the future? If it is normal how can I stop her from chewing on ME? Also, if you have any pointers for training her it’ll be much apprecieated. Thanks so much. =]

I moved in with my grandma recently to take care of her. I have two dogs, a Chihuahua(3) and a Papillion(2). Both my dogs are very clingy to me. They want to be with me all the time. When I go out they go in my room and remain antisocial until I get home. My biggest problem is that my grandma got a Papillion(almost 2yr old), who I’ve known since she was born – she got it from the same breeder as me. But her dog Zoey, never clinged to her. My grandma loves dogs and it’s not like she does anything to make a dog not want to like her. She does have a illness which makes her homebound. She rarely goes outside. Before I started living with her, every time I came over her dog Zoey would come be by me. Now that I’m living with her, my grandma bought a Pomeranian hoping that would be a clingy dog. but that dog who’s only 2 months old is following the rest of the dogs – which when it comes down to it they are following me!! My grandma feels like her dogs don’t like her – and I don’t know how to get her dogs to not want to be around me so much…
