Personaly I don’t think a dog can be “smart”. Only more or less willing to learn, but still… all dogs on this planet could do the same things: it only depends on the owner and how much patience and how good “explainers” we are and how fun we are to train with.
My friend have a cavalier, another a nova scotia duck and another a rhodesian ridgeback and they all can do pretty much the same as my golden – and that’s a lot! But if you’re talking personalitys, they are very different, all of them.

@mattstark23 No I’m not bashing any of the other breeds you mentioned but I’m just simply stating that they are one of the smart kinds of dogs.

@VE3Nz negative…. golden retrievers are smart dogs, i have had 1…. but border collies, german shepherds along with dobermans are the smartest breeds. they will never get the credit, bash all you want but pitbulls are a very very smart dog, just have to be trained right and there are great smart dogs!

That’s really awesome! My Golden’s name is Nina, and she’s now 4 months old, I’ve gotten her to sit, lay, stay (in which she freezes), look up, down and eat. Is there anything you think you can help me with her trainning? I’ve probably read all I can find in the internet…hehe Thanks

The puppy in the video is overweight, my pup is 4 months and is not nearly as fat, The vet told me my pup’s weight was normal. so i bet ur fine too.

NICE! I have a golden retriever puppy that’s 4 months old. Her name is Amber and she knows: sit, stay, paw, high five, roll over, spin, stand, down, and the “guess which hand” game. She looks a bit skinnier than your puppy..is that normal? I don’t want her to be underweight, although the vets didn’t say anything about her weight.

She’s now 7 months old… perhaps I should update video soon.. hehz, but Golden can do almost anything with proper training at this age! she can even press lift button for me, fetch her leash before we go out for a walk.. just really impressed with goldens.

Hey Amber.. Thanks for your input.
CoCo is my very first dog experience and she still is. I have subsequently learnt alot more about training. Yes, your comments are indeed very right and insightful ^_^.. the point about making the dog excited is very important.
Now CoCo doesn’t take anymore kibbles as treats since her interest in kibbles is no longer strong.
