There are links to video clips on this website… exercise shouldn’t be too much as you don’t want to stress the juvenile joints. 20 minutes twice a day… spend time teaching your dog obedience and get her to use her mind to keep her occupied.

Be gentle with your dog, as well as extremely patient, when you train and you’ll have a happy, confident, and loving dog. A good type of training is “Clicker” training. It works incredibly fast. You can buy a clicker from Petsmart for a couple dollars. They have some fancy looking ones but the cheapest white square ones they have work just as well as the fancy looking ones. If you want to know how to use the clicker, there are many many great books and websites that can help you along the way.
Theres puppy obedience classes you can take your dog to, and many other resources. Check out http://www.clickertraining.com/
As for the exercise, the way to tell if your dog is getting too much is if they start trailing behind on walks, or slowing down a lot. Playing with a ball or other toys is a fun way to let them get exercise. With puppies, you don’t want to be to aggressive in the exercise regimen since they are still growing and have softer bones and ligaments and you never want to permanently injure your dog.

A Dobermann is naturally pushy, with sharp intelligence & will show focused learning & be obedient if;
#1 someone clearly teaches a puppy what behavior is acceptable with motivationa training,
#2 embeds that behavior with consistent training &
#3 uses some form of compulsion training to ensure the dogs responds first time, every time, regardless of distractions.
I suggest that you focus on motivational obedience training & ensure that the puppy enjoys it.
At three months old, no more than 15 minutes on lead exercise. Until 12 months old a Dobermann is in the rapid stage growth of its skeletal development & over exercise can cause long term damage to the dog’s bones. From 12 months old a Dobermann gains muscle mass, but should still not have vigouress exercise until around 18 months old.You can work the mind of a puppy with short & sweet 3 minute obedience training sessions, which is great mental exercise.
Dobermanns tend to become vocal from around 6 months old. If you want your Dobermann to speak on command, when it gives the right behavior praise the dog. Just as important to train a dog to hush on command though, otherwise a vocal Dobermann would be hell to live with {for you & your neighbors}.
