How do I get my dog to be secure enough not to bark when alone?
By adminI just adopted a 6 month old mutt from the local shelter. He is fairly smart and already knows how to sit but I have noticed he is scared of everything. It isn’t horrible but it keeps him from wanting to be alone in a room, going in the backyard by himself (even with my other dogs), and barking nonstop in his kennel. I don’t know what I can do to make him more secure. any ideas!!?

there won’t be a quick fix. Obviously he was mistreated or neglected before you got him. Just give him lots of love and attention. Let him know that things are going to be different now and he will start to feel more relaxed and at home with you.
