I have two shetland sheepdogs…?

By

The girl is really timid around people and all she wants to do is play when she is around the guy. She is about 2.5 years old and the guy is about 6. When do you think she will be ready? Is there anything I can do to calm her down. Also, when she is in heat, the male is on her but he gives up too soon. Before she wouldn’t even stand there for him, but now she does and he gives up.
I’m not spaying or neutering my dogs. I asked for some advice on what to do to get them to mate, not suggestions as how to raise my dogs.
That has nothing to do with my question… Were you beaten as a child?
Thank you Joshua K, you actually answered my question. I believe it is up to ME with what I want to do with my dogs, not all the other people who think they know me.

SPAY YOUR DOG

“shy, timid” ARE TWO REASONS NOT TO BREED..

try showing her,, instead of breeding her.. UGH…

Why are you breeding your dogs, and do you know all the health problems breeding can cause. Why don’t you look up dystocia, pyometra, hypocalcimia, all conditions that can occur with your female, they are very expensive to treat and dystocias and pyometras are ER surgeries! Your male dog will eventually have prostate problems and can get cancer at a earlier age. Why don’t you speak to a veterinarian before you try breeding your dogs. And the millions of dogs in shelters should be another reason not to breed! Maybe you should spend some time at an ER pulling green dead puppies out of a mother dog who could not pass them, or smelling the infected uterus of an unspayed female while the doctor is trying to do an emergency hysterectomy before she dies!!! NOT GLAMOROUS!

Don’t breed your dogs, dude. Seriously. You haven’t done enough research on breeding dogs, or you’d know the answers to these questions for yourself.

By breeding your dogs, you’re going to be contributing to the huge problem of homeless pets. It’s a selfish thing to do. No ethical person here will support you by answering your question about unplanned, uneducated, backyard breeding of dogs that shouldn’t be bred in the first place.

he is probaly to old and i suggest that you encourage him by leaving them together in the room (by themselves) and hopefull he gives in and does her or you can get another shetland sheepdog. get rough and play with the male and he will get excited and might do her.

Dont listen to the others screw them ( i mean the ones who wont help)
Good luck

Sheltie is supposed to be reserve with strangers, not timid around people. She may not have the correct temperament. Why do you want to breed a dog with such kind of temperament? Other users are right, you should spay and neuter your dogs since your female has temperament issue.
