Is there ANY Shetland Sheepdogs in Edmonton, AB?

By

So, when I move I want to get a dog, I’ve been working at a Tailz its a Doggy Daycare, Groomers, Dog Training, and we sell animal food. I help with everything and I know how to care for a dog. Yes this is my 1st dog but when I go to work I care for the dogs there all day so its like having lots of dogs lol. Anyway, I want to get a Sheltie. I do know I have to groom them every day and I have no problem with that. I can’t find any adoption shelters with Sheltie’s in it, though! Does anyone know of one? I do not want a breeder dog cause shelter dogs need homes WAY more than breeders.

Thank you :D

Yes, you should check out sheltie rescue sites such as

http://www.cassbarshelties.com/rescue.html

http://members.oanet.com/~moon/Rescue.htm and

http://www.netpets.com/dogs/dogresc/breeds/dogshelty.html <- scroll to the bottom to get to canadian provinces!

Contact Lorna Moon, she is in charge of the Alberta Sheltie rescue site

Or contact Michelle Rogowski, RescueCoord.
(204) 832-5484 she is the coordinator for the national sheltie rescue organization

Any of these prganizations can either place a sheltie in need with you or point you in the right direction to getting one.

You can also contact breeders, not for a pup, but to be put on a list in case anyone needs to rehome a pup.. good breeders have a lifelong take back policy and sometimes end up with dogs back, from previous litters and they need to find new homes for them.

Good Luck! Shelties are a wonderful breed. My first dog was a sheltie, and 15 years later I still have her and she’s as healthy as a horse. She’ll do a 10 k hike with me no problem!
