Question, my wife and I visited a friend that had a female papillon. Gorgeous dog and what we loved about is that when she walks, she actually prance... really classy and cute. Is that normal for paps, that they prance?

Papillon's are especially prone to prancing when they're really happy. It's almost like they want to break out in a run, but they're trying to control themselves, and the end result is a lively little step that is very much a trademark of this and a few other breeds. They are wonderful, intelligent, VERY low maintenance dogs. I highly recommend considering one.

I also love the fact that they are free (almost) of that doggie odor. Perfect for an apartment dweller like myself. I am looking for one now...

Yes - no smell or oily hair at all. We didn't realize this until after we got our first one, but it's definitely a bonus :)

Sophie is 2-1/2. We got her when she was 11 weeks old. She's large for the breed, mostly because her parents were large, and she tends to get into Max's food as well as her own (we feed them in their crates now).

She was a very easy puppy to raise, and she is an absolute angel. :)

Congratulations - upload a video sometime soon! Make the decision now whether he gets to sleep on the bed or not (ours do). Once you decide, there's no going back ;)

I live in an apartment and I am crate training him now. I don't mind him sleeping on my bed at all but the problem is, soon he will have to be without us in a crate for about 4 hours a day in the morning. So we are trying to get him used to the crate so he doesn't cream and yell when alone at home. Needless to say, my wife and I have been sleepless the last two nights :)) Super smart puppy and he's so attached... follows my wife everywhere around the house, stays close to her feet.

When we trained Sophie and Max, we found it was perfectly fine to let them on the bed during crate training. YMMV, but it worked fine for us. They seem to associate the crate with their humans leaving, without any confusion. Max and Sophie bolt into their crates when they see us putting on shoes or coats. They know when it's time to go to their rooms. :)

What did you name him?
