Pets like dogs usually like stuff like this. He’s getting treats and the owners are challenging the dog, which is great. Considering a lot of people that own dogs do nothing with them and don’t stimulate them at all.
It’s really neat! It’s the same as kids learning times tables, they just learn the patterns first then learn how to count them. At least that’s how I learned.
When I was little I taught my chiwawa to say yes and no with licks 2=no 3=yes
Keep it up though learning new things always or he’ll probably forget how.. I was really little so I stopped and he forgot. My parents never believed he really did it no matter how dramatic it was..
you guys are right, it is responding to her hand, sometimes it even looks like it’s about to go over, maybe on one of them. also, look at 0:57, he starts early and she has to tell him to wait until she says something. She never even asked the question yet.
This is absolute wonderful training. You and your beloved animal are amazing. Please do not listen to those who critique in a negative fashion.
Great video and thank you for sharing this.
God Bless
The dog isn’t responding to the actual number she’s saying. Notice she gives him the treat immediately when he reaches the correct number of scratches. If she didn’t stick the treat out to him, he would just keep on scratching. Impressive trick, though!
disgusting – dogs are intelligent – and the fact you are demoting an intelligent animal to do dumb tricks is absolutely disrespectful – take him out in the mountains w/o a leash – let him be – let him sniff – treats for tricks?
The dog does seem to have very good mental thinking capacity, but its mind has been trained to focus on human smarts. He understands what the sequences of sound say he needs to do, but he cannot understand hte meaning of nembers. No dog I have ever met can truly understand numbers. Its like trying to explain to a toddler exactly what numbers are. I’ve tried it and its extreamly hard, much harder to explain it to an animal that can full understand language like humans. It is a smart dog, though.
I am not sure if you are asking why we put our dogs inside our house, but if you are, its because they are wonderful and can give love no matter how you look or act. They are no judgemental, which is more than most humans. They are true freinds. Just like people, dog owners turn to their dogs alot of hte time because they are always there and will love you no matter what you’ve done or said. Wonderful animals. Well, any animal is like that, even the most unlikely pet, but dogs expessialy.
yeah seems plenty of people are talkin trash on this. Its cool but the dog is not.. I repeat IIISSSSS NOOOOOTTTT doing math in its head people!!! No more than Shrek is thinkin about what to say to Donkey on his own. And the video editing people are yappin about down that this girl is sayin she’s “not good enough” to do… ya just put the vid in there where he/she did it right. lol Not disney crap either here, cmon.
I think it just recognises the sounds and remembers how many scratches to do to get a treat from the last time it heard ’2+2′ for example. If it had never heard 1+2 before, I doubt it could work it out. Still a smart dog though.

It would be easier to understand if there was sound. Do you know if this video is uploaded to a website where sound is allowed?

What makes you think the dog doesn’t enjoy it? Perhaps you’re anthropomorphising a bit.

I didn’t like this vid, to force animal to do stupid tasks for your own pleasure, that’s just cruel!

The dog has been trained to scratch until the owner moves to give a treat. Look up the horse Clever Hans.
