Scary smart. They don't make good pets because you have to keep them busy with quantum physics problems or something. If you don't, they figure out where you keep the truck keys, and take off with your jitney to find something to do, usually taking your credit card to cover their expenses. Border Collie or Kelpie. The gimmick was that the dog could talk. The guy asked the dog "what's on the outside of a tree?" The dog said "bark". The audience groaned. The guy asked the dog "how does the bark feel?" The dog said "ruff ruff". The audience started to boo him. Finally the guy asked the dog "who is the greatest player in baseball?" The dog said "bow wow". The two of them were booed off stage. He is named for a famous Greek philosopher. Socrates doesn't appear very often, but had a prominent role in The ClueFinders 4th Grade Adventures. Socrates appeared at the end of The ClueFinders Reading Adventures. Socrates is the team mascot. Socrates can't talk, but can "think out loud," so to speak, as Garfield and Snoopy can.
