Why does my Golden Retriever start hacking when he runs?
ByHi, My Golden Retriever always hacks when he starts to run. He opens his mouth like he’s going to vomit but he never actually vomits. He hacks and coughs and then stops after a few seconds. He only does this after he’s been running. He’s done this for about a week now. He’s only a year old and is in good health other than this.

my suspicion would be a heart murmur,has he been checked?

Heartworms can cause it. Better have him checked.

our beagle did the same T’ang so just get a harness and they should be fine

Several things come to mind — is your dog on heartworm preventative, because this is one of the symptoms of heartworms.
He could also have a heart problem, a viral infection, any number of things.
Get him to the vet to be checked out.

has he recently gotten a bordello shot? my dog did the same thing and i thought it was kennel cough but the vet told me this was a side effect of the bordello shot and can last for 10-14 days and this is normal…bordellos is received in the nose so it can irritate the nasal passages and his throat…if this is not the case then i suggest taking him to a vet to be checked out….hope all turns out well for him…
